The Insurgo Theater Movement, after a year of critically acclaimed productions and new projects, has announced the opening of the Insurgo Studio -- a series of original classes designed to stimulate the county's theater scene by providing direct and personal development with potential artists.
"We see this as an extension of our artistic agenda," said John Beane, Artistic Director of the Insurgo Theater Movement and one of the managers of the Insurgo Studio. We're not interested in creating a diversion for dabblers. We're not trying to replace community education. We are in the business of developing artists, whether they're beginners or professionals. That's what the Insurgo Studio is here for."
The inaugural session will be taught by Jonathan Talmadge. "Each class will be regarded as an experiment," said Talmadge. "Actors will be coaxed outside what is comfortable, forbidden to do what is easy, dared to risk what is frightening and actively encouraged to fail in spectacular ways."
Graduates of the classes may be considered for the Insurgo Advanced Acting Study and/or the Insurgo Theater Movement mainstage season.
The Insurgo Studio Fall Session begins October 13 and runs for 6 weeks through November 22nd. Students receive a minimum of 3 hours of instruction per week. Beginning and Intermediate classes are available. The price for the entire session is $180. Space is limited. For more information or to register call 714-693-2461 or visit insurgostudio.com
