Actorfest LA 2009 Casting Opportunities

OPEN-CALL AUDITIONS


All Actorfest attendees will have the opportunity to participate in auditions for an outstanding variety of projects and casting directors. This is a great opportunity to be seen by professionals for FREE.

Audition slots are limited, so we recommend showing up at Actorfest early to sign up for an audition spot. Audition slots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The opportunity to audition is not guaranteed.

For the auditions, remember to bring copies of your headshot and resume (stapled together).

Currently, open-call auditions are scheduled for:

* NBC/Universal
* Telemundo
* Walt Disney Parks & Resorts
* FMW Casting

Here are specific instructions for some of the auditions.

NBC/Universal and Telemundo

NBC Universal and Telemundo will be holding auditions designed to add diversity to NBC and Telemundo's expanding talent pool.

NBC's roster of scripted series includes critically acclaimed comedies like Emmy winners The Office, starring Steve Carell, and 30 Rock, starring Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey; award-winning dramas including the Law & Order brand, Heroes, and Chuck; daytime drama Days of Our Lives; and the Saturday-morning Qubo block of programming for kids, including the award-winning 3-D animated series Veggie Tales.

Telemundo is a U.S. Spanish-language broadcast television network committed to broadcasting unique and outstanding national and local entertainment, news, and sports programming; Telemundo reaches 93% of U.S. Hispanic viewers through 16 owned-and-operated stations, 45 broadcast affiliates, and distribution to nearly 800 cable systems in more than 210 markets.

Seeking-Bilingual and Spanish-Speaking Actors: males and females (all ages); and Actors who can play 50+: males and females; and Actors with Disabilities: males and females (all ages)

Auditions will be held Nov. 14 at Back Stage's Actorfest, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at California Market Center, 110 East Ninth Street (between Main and Los Angeles Sts.) in Downtown Los Angeles. Callbacks will be held starting at 2 p.m.

If you are called back, you will be given a scene to prepare and read. Come prepared with multiple copies of your pix & résumés (stapled together). Sign up for an audition time slot as early in the day as possible after arriving at Actorfest. There is no guarantee that everyone will be seen; early attendance is strongly recommended.

General admission to Actorfest is free. Please be advised that no actor is guaranteed a role in a future production.


Disney Auditions

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will be holding auditions at Actorfest L.A.

"Have the experience of a lifetime with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.  We are continuously seeking Character Look-alikes to perform in meet-and-greets, parades and stage shows at our locations around the world.  And don't forget the Disney Cruise Line!  The high seas await with destinations to exotic locales such as Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean." Park locations include Los Angeles, Orlando, Paris, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

Seeking—Males (5'9" - 6'2"): and  Females (5'0" - 5'8"): to portray popular lead characters made famous in the following Disney features:  "Aladdin," "Alice in Wonderland," "Beauty and the Beast," "Cinderella," "Peter Pan," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Sleeping Beauty," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "The Little Mermaid," "Tinker Bell," and the upcoming "The Princess and the Frog." Auditions will be held at Back Stage's Actorfest on Nov. 14, 11 a.m. (sign-in 10:30 a.m.) and 1:30 p.m. (sign-in 1 p.m.) at California Market Center, 110 East Ninth Street (between Main and Los Angeles Sts.) in Downtown Los Angeles.

Callbacks will be held at 4 p.m. Bring pix & résumés. Depending on the location, Individual Employment Contracts range in length from six months to one year.  Benefits may include per diem, housing, medical/dental coverage, vacation/sick days, complimentary park entrances, employee discounts and more.

FMW Casting

Barbara Fiorentino, independent casting director and partner at FMW Casting, will be holding union auditions for various future projects. Fiorentino’s credits include "CSI: New York," "Burn Notice," and "The Shield"; for more credits visit http://tinyurl.com/BarbaraFiorentinoCasting.

Seeking—Actors & Actresses: males and females, 18+, any ethnicity. Note: You must be able to verify that you’re a member of SAG, AFTRA, or Equity in order to be considered for an audition spot. However, both union and nonunion actors will have the opportunity to drop off their headshots and resumes in the Pix & Resume Drop Box area of Actorfest throughout the day, for future review by Barbara Fiorentino/FMW Casting and other casting directors.

Union auditions will be held Nov. 14 at Back Stage’s Actorfest, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at California Market Center, 110 East Ninth Street (between Main and Los Angeles Sts.) in Downtown Los Angeles. You must bring your union I.D. card (SAG, AFTRA, or Equity) and come prepared with a one-minute monologue and your pix & résumé (stapled together). Space is extremely limited so sign up for an audition time slot as early as possible after arriving at Actorfest. There is no guarantee that everyone will be seen; early attendance is strongly recommended. General admission to Actorfest is free for both union and nonunion actors. The union situation and pay for the projects being cast may vary, dependent on the future project that each actor is cast for, if cast; no actor is guaranteed a role in a future production.


CASTING DIRECTOR MEET & GREETS

Numerous casting directors and casting associates will be holding Meet & Greet sessions at Actorfest, where you'll get the opportunity to talk to top casting professionals one-on-one for a minute or two, and then drop off your headshot and resume with them for future consideration.

Although these are not auditions, this is a terrific opportunity to get noticed by casting directors, receive quick and valuable feedback on your headshot and resume, or have some of your important career questions answered by leading casting professionals.

To attend a Meet & Greet session, simply stand in line at the Meet & Greet area at Actorfest. Don't forget to bring copies of your headshot and resume (stapled together)!

NOTE: The Meet & Greets are free, but in order to stand in line for a Meet & Greet session, you must first purchase a ticket to at least one Actorfest Workshop (a Panel, Intensive, or Focus Session). Meet & Greet slots are limited; the opportunity to meet a casting director is not guaranteed.

PIX & RESUME DROP BOXES

Lots of casting directors, agents, and managers will have Drop Boxes available at Actorfest. When you attend Actorfest, you'll have the opportunity to drop off your headshot and resume in these boxes throughout the day. And you can add your pix & resume to as many boxes as you'd like!

So make sure you bring multiple copies of your headshot and resume (stapled together) to Actorfest. It's a free, convenient way to get your photo and resume into the hands of casting professionals.
