Off-Broadway's American Place Theatre received one of 12 ACCESS/NY Awards for outstanding commitment to increasing access for people with disabilities. The awards were presented by Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger June 3 at the Lighthouse on East 59th Street.
American Place was honored for producing "Spokesman," a one-man play by journalist John Hockenberry, who has worked extensively and successfully for NBC News while in a wheelchair.
Coleman Dance Ensemble Performs on the Pier
The Elinor Coleman Dance Ensemble will perform two world premiere dance works at Pier 62, West 23rd St., NYC, on Tues., June 25 at 7 pm as part of the free "Dancing Under the Stars" series sponsored and produced by Hudson River Park Conservancy, Chelsea Waterside Park Associates, Chelsea Piers, and Danse Mirage Inc. Both works, "Facets of the Woman Self--Sisters, Aunts and Friends," and "Looking Forwards Looking Backwards in Time," are choreographed by Coleman.
