‘Amour’ and ‘Sessiz-Be Deng’ Win Palme d’Or at Cannes

Michael Haneke’s “Amour” and L. Rezan Yesilbas’ "Sessiz-Be Deng" won the 2012 Palme d’Or in the feature film and short film category respectively.

After receiving his award from Adrien Brody and Audrey Tautou, Haneke thanked the jury, his wife and his actors, calling them "the essence of this film."

Actor Mads Mikkelsen also thanked the jury, which was presided over by Nanni Moretti, and said that he wished to share the prize with his director Thomas Vinterberg.

"Thank you for inviting us into this universe of love," he said.
