'Annie' on Broadway Now Casting Kids in NYC
Back Stage is now running a casting notice for the upcoming Broadway revival of "Annie." The musical, about a young orphan who goes to live with a wealthy man, has music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a book by Thomas Meehan. James Lapine will direct the production. Rehearsals are slated to begin late Summer/Fall 2012 and an opening date has not been set.

Arielle Tepper Madover (prod.) is casting the upcoming Broadway production of "Annie. "

Seeking—Annie: girl, 11 years old, any ethnicity, optimistic, spunky and wise beyond her years, has a deep-seated longing to find her birth parents, and will stop at nothing to accomplish that goal, has a heart of gold, despite her share of mischievous situations, any and every girl can relate to her in some way, is honest, forthright, and has a magnetic personality, performer must have an excellent singing range, great comedic timing, and excellent dance skills; Molly: girl, 6 years old, any ethnicity, littlest of the orphans, Annie takes it upon herself to take special care of Molly and act as her big sister whenever possible, performer must have excellent singing and dancing skills; Pepper: girl, 11 years old, any ethnicity, the tough cookie of the group of orphans, performer must have excellent singing and dancing skills; Kate: girl, 7 years old, any ethnicity, almost as small as Molly, performer must have excellent singing and dancing skills; Tessie: girl, 10 years old, any ethnicity, a cry-baby, performer must have excellent singing and dancing skills; July: girl, 12 years old, any ethnicity, quietest of the orphans, performer must have excellent singing and dancing skills; Duffy: girl, 12 years old, any ethnicity, eldest and biggest of the orphans, performer must have excellent singing and dancing skills.

To audition, prepare a short musical theater song from or in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist is provided, but may not transpose. Bring current picture and resume, stapled together.
