Casting directors Jordan Thaler and Heidi Griffiths are holding auditions for the upcoming 50th anniversary of The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park series. This summer's productions at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park are "As You Like It" and "Into the Woods." Equity principal auditions for both shows will be held in February.

Shakespeare's "As You Like It" will be directed by Daniel Sullivan, with performances scheduled for June. Lily Rabe, who previously collaborated with Sullivan for her Tony-nominated role in "The Merchant of Venice" in the park and on Broadway in 2010, will star as Rosalind. All other roles are available. Equity principal auditions will be held Monday, February 13 in New York City.

Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel  will direct "Into the Woods," which will premiere in July. This version of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Broadway musical is based on the directors' Olivier Award-winning Regent's Park Open Air Theatre London production from 2010. All roles in the show are available, including some familiar characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, the Witch, and others. Equity principal auditions will be held Thursday, February 2 in New York City.

"I'm delighted that we are adding Stephen Sondheim to the Delacorte's roster," Oskar Eustis, artistic director of The Public Theater, said in a statement. "Our greatest artist of musical theater will sit very comfortably next to Shakespeare. Sondheim in the Park has a good ring to it."

Both shows will be performed for free this summer in Central Park. These auditions are primarily for Actors' Equity members, but the casting directors may also see nonunion actors, if time permits. Thaler and Griffiths have collaborated at the Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival for nearly two decades, casting more than 200 productions Off-Broadway and at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Broadway credits include "Chinglish," "The Tempest," "The Wild Party," "Take Me Out," "Caroline, or Change," "Passing Strange," "Hair," "The Merchant of Venice," and "The Motherf**ker with the Hat."
