Backstage is excited to announce the official launch of our new online casting platform, which as of today is replacing Backstage.com’s old casting tools with vastly superior job search functions, new and improved profiles, and more!
“For more than 50 years, Backstage has been the most trusted resource for actors, dancers, singers, and performers of all types to find casting, audition, and job listings and information,” said Backstage VP and National Casting Editor Luke Crowe. “Our new casting platform is an incredible leap forward in Backstage’s technology. We’re very excited about these state-of-the-art new casting tools, and plan on introducing numerous new enhancements in the future.”
As Backstage.com members, actors now have access to advanced job-search options for easily finding new casting notices and job opportunities at lightning speed; easier-to-use “Saved Search” and “Email Alert” options that will help you find roles that are perfect for you; improved application options, so you can submit your résumé faster, for exactly the roles you want; gorgeous new profiles where you can showcase your photos, credits, skills, and audio or video reels better than ever before; and Google Maps integrated with all audition announcements.
“Backstage’s previous casting tools were built on a traditional job board platform, like Monster or HotJobs, which you would use to hire comptrollers and marketing assistants,” said Jim Jazwiecki, Backstage’s chief technology officer. “The market for talent is very different from that world, so we built this from the ground up with casting in mind. Now we can keep refining our product and building new tools that will delight our users.”
And for casting directors, producers, and other employers who are seeking talent for their projects, the new site features advanced job-posting options for easily distributing your casting notices, character breakdowns, audition announcements, script sides, and job opportunities; an intuitive new “Submissions Inbox” that lets you quickly drill down through actors’ and performers’ headshots—based on the project and role they applied to, location, gender, and more—to find the perfect applicant in just a few clicks; and a gorgeous new “Talent Database” where CDs can speedily review thousands of actors’ profiles to find amazing talent for their productions.
“As with our casting search, the talent search has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, which is going to be a great help for both our subscribers—who want to be front and center for employers trying to cast just the right person—and the casting directors who want to narrow down our vast pool of talent to find the right people for the role.”
Plus, employers can now create their own Backstage.com profile for free, so actors can learn more about them and their company’s credits. And if you’re an actor who also casts their own projects, you’ll be able to both post and apply to jobs from the same account.
Check it out today at backstage.com/casting. We think you’ll love the new casting site, and look forward to your feedback!
