The list of 2014 British Academy Film and Television Award nominees has been announced and brings few surprises. Alfonso Cuarón’s “Gravity” is up for 11 awards including best film, outstanding British film, original screenplay, and cinematography. Sandra Bullock also nabbed a leading actress nomination for her role in the film.

Both “American Hustle” and Steve McQueen’s ”12 Years a Slave” garnered spots in 10 categories. McQueen is nominated for best director for his work on the film about the true story of a free man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery, as is Cuarón, David O. Russell (“American Hustle”), Martin Scorsese (“Wolf on Wall Street”), and Paul Greengrass (“Captain Phillips”). Other films with multiple nominations are “Captain Phillips” with nine, “Behind the Candelabra” and “Saving Mr. Banks” with five nominations each, and “Blue Jasmine,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” and “Nebraska” each garnering three nods.
