Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical "Bombay Dreams" has taken in $16 million at the box office, theater officials said.

More than 300,000 people have seen the show, which celebrates the Bollywood movie musicals of the Indian subcontinent.

"Bombay Dreams," which opened in June, celebrates its 200th performance Wednesday at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

The show, with music by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Don Black, focuses on a poor but handsome young man who dreams of becoming a Bollywood movie star. It's directed by Steven Pimlott, who directed the hit revival of the Lloyd Webber musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

The box office total was announced Tuesday.
