The cast of "Children's Letters to God" will be performing at this year's Broadway Blessing, marking the first time the cast of a musical currently in production has sung a song from its show at the ceremony. The performers are (from top right) Jimmy Dieffenbach and Gerard Canonico, (middle) Libbie Jacobson and Sara Kapner, and (bottom) Andrew Zutty.
The eighth annual Broadway Blessing, a free interfaith service that launches the Broadway season, will take place Mon., Sept. 13 at St. Malachy's, the Actors' Chapel, at 239 West 49th Street. It begins at 6:30 pm and lasts about 75 minutes. The service will be followed by a reception courtesy of the League of American Theatres and Producers and Theatre Development Fund.
In addition to the performance from "Children's Letters to God," cabaret performer KT Sullivan will make her second appearance and musical theatre veteran Ken Prymus will make his third, singing with the combined choirs of St. Malachy's, St. Clement's Episcopal, and St. Luke's Lutheran churches. Clergy from those congregations will offer reflections, as will Rabbi Laurie Katz Braun and actor Merwin Goldsmith.
