The subject matter might strike some as an odd choice for the director of such dark fare as “Black Swan” and “Requiem for a Dream,” but “Noah” has been often been referred to as Aronofsky’s “dream project” in media reports. Considering his sensibilities and the sensitive material, it’s hard to imagine this project not igniting controversy at some point.
Shooting is scheduled to get under way in Iceland in July. Russell Crowe has already signed on to play the famous shipwright.
