CBS has announced that 18 of its primetime programs are being renewed for next season. The list includes four comedies, nine dramas, three reality series, and two newsmagazines.

The dramas are "The Good Wife," "NCIS," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Criminal Minds," "CSI," "The Mentalist," "Person of Interest," "Blue Bloods," and "Hawaii Five-0."

The half-hour comedies "Mike & Molly" and "2 Broke Girls" will return, as will long-running hits "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory," which were previously given multi-year deals by the network. The biggest surprise might be "Two and a Half Men," which has not been officially renewed as CBS is still in "preliminary discussions regarding future seasons" of the show with producer Warner Bros.

The return of "Survivor" has already been announced, and we now know that reality shows "The Amazing Race" and "Undercover Boss" are getting picked up. Newsmagazines "60 Minutes" and "48 Hours Mystery" will also return.

While the comedies "Rob" and "Rules of Engagement" and drama series "A Gifted Man," "Unforgettable," "CSI: NY," and "CSI: Miami" have not been picked up for another season yet, this does not mean that they have been cancelled. The network will need to evaluate its new crop of pilots in development before making any final decisions on these shows.

Today's news "is testimony to the strength, stability, and success of a deep and diverse roster of top-rated programming," said CBS Entertainment chief Nina Tassler. CBS is currently the top-rated television network, so it should be no surprise that executives have chosen to stay the course and maintain the majority of the primetime lineup. According to Vulture, "The Eye is presently averaging 12.1 million viewers each week, 3 million more than second-place Fox (9.1 million). The network is also first in adults 25-54 and is just 200,000 viewers behind Fox is the advertiser-craved demo of adult viewers under 50. What's more, CBS is actually up from last season in all three aforementioned categories."

CBS is scheduled to officially unveil its new primetime lineup for the 2012-13 TV season on May 16 in New York.
