George M. Cohan and Frank Loesser were among the famous names inducted into the New York University Musical Theatre Hall of Fame on Mon., Nov. 11.
Others honored at the invitation-only ceremony at NYU's Frederick Loewe Theatre were Abe Burrows, Dorothy Fields, and Harold Rome.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the celebration included the presentation of the Musical Theatre Hall of Fame Award to composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb. It also featured guest performances by Jo Sullivan Loesser, the widow of the composer and star of his operatic musical, "The Most Happy Fella"; pianist Peter Lahm (son of Dorothy Fields) and his wife, Judy Kreston; and a special musical tribute to Ella Fitzgerald.
