Dan Hulbert, theatre critic for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, was found dead Sept. 26, at Johns Mountain, a wilderness area in Northwest Georgia. He was 46 years old and the cause of his death was ruled a suicide.
Hulbert, who served on The Atlantic Journal Constitution for 13 years, had previously worked as a theatre critic for the Dallas Times Herald in Texas. He was a Minneapolis native who graduated from Yale and earned a master's degree from Columbia, after which he clerked with The New York Times.
Hulbert's criticism won first place this year in the Best of Cox Awards given by Cox newspapers.
