Made it out to the
AFI Fest last night for their "secret screening" of "
The Fighter," one of Paramount's unseen Oscar movies--the other being the Coen Brothers' "True Grit," which word has it isn't even finished yet. "The Fighter" has screened well for test audiences, but this was the first time it was being shown to the general public--a SAG screening is planned for tonight. The film, which star and producer Mark Wahlberg has been shepherding for years, tells the true story of Micky Ward, a boxer from Lowell, Massachusetts, and his offbeat family--most notably his controlling mother Alice (Melissa Leo) and half-brother Dickie (Christian Bale.)
