Edinburgh International Festival Artistic Director to Step Down

Edinburgh International Festival artistic director Jonathan Mills has announced that he will step down from his position in 2014, "The Stage" reported on Thursday.

"I am anticipating that 2014 will be my final festival," Mills said at the launch of this year’s EIF program. "That is what I and the board of the festival are discussing at the moment and that is what we are saying is my last festival. I have enjoyed thoroughly my six years here so far."

Mills has been artistic director of the festival since 2006, extending his contract twice to include the 2012 Olympics and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
