"I am anticipating that 2014 will be my final festival," Mills said at the launch of this year’s EIF program. "That is what I and the board of the festival are discussing at the moment and that is what we are saying is my last festival. I have enjoyed thoroughly my six years here so far."
Mills has been artistic director of the festival since 2006, extending his contract twice to include the 2012 Olympics and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
The 2012 Edinburgh International Festival runs August 9-September 2. For the complete program of this year's events, visit the festival website.
