Embattled SAG Pension & Health CEO Resigns

Bruce Dow, a 28-year employee of the SAG Pension and Health Plan and its current CEO, has resigned effective April 30, the organization’s board of trustees announced today. He had previously been on a sixty day medical leave starting in January, and then returned to work a few weeks ago.

According to the statement, COO Chris Dowdell, a 20-year veteran of the Plan, will serve as interim CEO. Dow, the statement said, will continue as a consultant for a term and salary that were not disclosed.

Pending in state court is a wrongful termination suit filed March 22 by the Plan’s former head of human resources and information technology, Craig Simmons, who alleges that he was discharged a year ago after reporting alleged illegal conduct by Dow.  The Plan has denied the allegations.
