Entertainers Plan Gennaro Memorial

Singer Judy Collins, dancer Chita Rivera and cabaret star Barbara Cook are among the entertainers scheduled at a memorial performance on Monday at the Broadhurst Theatre that will celebrate the life of Broadway dancer-choreographer Peter Gennaro.

Gennaro, who was co-choreographer with Jerome Robbins on "West Side Story" and choreographer of such Broadway shows as "Fiorello!" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," died last September at the age of 80. His choreography for the 1977 musical "Annie" won him a Tony award.

The National Dance Institute, a nonprofit arts education program based in New York City, is producing the event. Gennaro had a longstanding association with the organization, which former New York City Ballet star Jacques d'Amboise founded.
