epa, "fever" nat'l tour

Holding Equity principal auditions for the first national tour of "Saturday Night Fever." Robert Stigwood/Jon Platt, prod'rs; Manny Kladitis, assoc. prod'r; Barry, Robin, & Maurice Gibb, music; Nan Knighton, stage adaptation; Arlene Phillips, dir.-choreo.; Marcia Urani, assoc. choreo.; Tony Edge, assoc. dir.; Phillip Edwards, musical supervisor; Martyn Axe, musical dir.; Niko Associates, general mgr. First rehearsal early Feb. Auditions will be held at Chelsea Studios, 151 W. 26 St. (btwn. 6 & 7 aves.), 6th fl., NYC. Bring sheet music and pix & resumes. Be prepared to sing one or two contrasting pop songs that show your range. You may be asked to dance, so bring character or jazz shoes and kneepads if you have them. Since all principals must dance, chorus call procedures are being used for this call. EQ. PRODUCTION CONTRACT.

Fri. Nov. 17—Equity female singers who dance (to sing first), 3PM.

Seeking—Tony Manero: lead (principal), already cast, seeking covers only (to possibly come from Double J, Joey, and Gus), Caucasian, late teens to early 20s, film role created by John Travolta, young, good-looking, and streetwise, lives to dance, tenor, pop sound, strong technique, must be able to sing up to a G; Stephanie: principal, Caucasian, late teens to early 20s, Tony's love interest and dance partner, attractive, ambitious, full of airs and pretentions, pop sound, strong technique, must belt to a D; Annette: principal, Caucasian, late teens to early 20s, in love with Tony, insecure with a trusting innocence, pop/soul sound, strong technique, must belt to a D; Bobby C: principal, Caucasian, late teens to early 20s, member of Tony's gang and Tony's closest friend, small and insecure, pop tenor, strong technique, must sing up to an A; Joey: principal, Caucasian, 19, girl-crazy, fun-loving, outspoken and direct, strong tenor voice with a good range, may also be required to understudy Tony and/or Bobby C; Double J: principal, Caucasian, 19, tough, cocky, self-promoter, strong tenor voice with a good range, may also be required to understudy Tony and/or Bobby C; Gus: principal, Caucasian, 19, tries to be tough, but with a natural, sunny temperament, strong tenor voice with a good range, may also be required to understudy Tony and/or Bobby C; Monty: principal, all ethnic types, 20-30s, fast-talking 2001 disc jockey, also runs the dance studio, sleazeball, pop/rock voice, must be able to sing to an A, strong falsetto an asset.
