Actors' Equity Association will honor the Broadway musical "The Scottsboro Boys" on Friday with the union's fifth annual Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs Award for outstanding Broadway chorus.

The ACCA Award recognizes the talents and contributions of the original chorus members of a Broadway musical. "The Scottsboro Boys"—nominated for 12 Tony Awards in 2011—was one of a dozen Broadway musicals considered for this year's honor.

The show is based on the 1930s trial of nine African-American teenage boys who were falsely accused of raping two white girls. It ran at the Lyceum Theatre from Oct. 7 to Dec. 12, 2010.

"The chorus members of 'The Scottsboro Boys' are gifted professionals who exemplify the hard work, dedication, and talent it takes to be outstanding in a Broadway musical," said Rebecca Kim Jordan, Equity's 2nd vice president and chair of the ACCA, in a written statement.
