Ralph Remington has been named the new western regional director and assistant executive director for Actors' Equity Association.
"We're thrilled to welcome Ralph Remington to the Equity family as part of the leadership team," Equity Executive Director Mary McColl said in a written statement. "He has a proven track record of success as a strategic planner and is a champion of cultural inclusiveness. His multifaceted career and varied experience provides the union with a rare inside-out view of our industry."
Remington will assume his new role in January. He comes to Equity from the Natonal Endowment for the Arts, where he has served since 2010 as director for theater and musical theater. He will succeed Mary Lou Westerfield, who will step down at the end of the year.
Equity has hired new directors for all three of its regions in the last 15 months. Thomas Carpenter was named eastern regional director in August, 2012. Sean Taylor was named central regional director in October, 2013.
