New York (AP) -- An elderly Queens man was charged with attempted murder Monday in the shooting of his son, an actor who has appeared on episodes of "ER" and "The Drew Carey Show."
Vincent Ford Jr., 42, whose professional name is Keith Diamond, had recently traveled from California to Queens to visit his ailing mother.
He was eating in the family's kitchen Sunday afternoon when his father, Vincent Ford Sr., 81, allegedly walked in and shot him three times with a .32-caliber revolver, police said.
The actor was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with face, chest and arm injuries.
The elder Ford, a retired postal worker, was arraigned on charges of attempted murder, assault and weapons possession, a spokesman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. He did not enter a plea.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Alex Zigman ordered the elder Ford held without bail pending the outcome of a psychiatric evaluation.
If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison. He is due back in court April 26.
A call to his lawyer, Chris Renfroe, wasn't immediately returned.
The motive in the shooting was unknown.
Beside his TV work, the actor has appeared in feature films such as "Dr. Giggles" (1992) and "Biker Boyz" (2003).
