SPEAKER BIO

Julie Swistak

Julie Swistak received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her M.A. in film and television from Chapman University. While at Chapman, she cast her student thesis film and several thesis films for her fellow students and discovered that, although she loved writing and telling stories, she enjoyed illustrating them even more. Swistak immediately fell in love with the casting process and obtained an internship at Betty Mae Casting. After graduation, she began working at Betty Mae Casting as an assistant, under the direction of Mary Vernieu. She has worked with numerous casting directors, including Janet Gilmore and Megan McConnell (Heartland for TNT); Nancy Klopper (Righteous Kill, Brooklyn Films); and David Rapaport and Lindsey Kroeger (Quarantine, Fear Itself, 90210). Most recently, she worked as Kroeger's casting associate for the Screen Gems feature film Bone Deep — featuring Matt Dillon, Jay Hernandez, Hayden Christensen, Idris Elba, Paul Walker, and Chris Brown. She is a member of the Casting Society of America.
