Kelli O'Hara, currently on Broadway in "Nice Work If You Can Get It" (and a Backstage cover star earlier this year), will be honored for her work in the theater at the New York Musical Theatre Festival's (NYMF) 2012 Annual Gala, the festival announced this week.
O'Hara, a four time Tony Award nominee, has been seen on Broadway in "South Pacific," "The Pajama Game," and "The Light In The Piazza" among others. O'Hara has also appeared in "Sex and the City 2," CBS' "Blue Bloods," and Martin Scorsese's short advertisement “The Key to Reserva."
“Kelli is that rare breed of musical theatre star that is a chameleon and her talent on stage is only outmatched by her passion for the craft,” said NYMF's Executive Director and Producer Isaac Robert Hurwitz. “We are thrilled to honor Kelli O’Hara for her dedication to the theater.”
NYMF, one of the biggest annual musical theater events in the country, is a three-week long festival, which selects and presents over 30 musicals. Now in its ninth year, the festival has been dubbed the "Sundance of Musical Theater" and gained a reputation as a valuable source for introducing new material and talent to the theater world.
The NYMF Annual Gala will also be honoring the artists and achievements of the 2012 season. The Nov. 11 event will include musical performances and a silent auction.
