Chord Overstreet could be returning to Fox's "Glee."

"The Hollywood Reporter" has confirmed that the actor who played Sam on the musical dramedy from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk is in talks to reprise his role in a recurring capacity, as first reported by "TV Line."

The actor parted ways with the series last season after seeing co-stars Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) promoted to series regulars.

The actor guest starred on ABC's "The Middle" this season.

According to "TV Line," Overstreet could return in a recurring capacity in Episode 8 of the series' third season.

Overstreet's Sam was last seen romancing Mercedes (Amber Riley) in the series' Season 2 finale. What this means for Mercedes' new love interest, Marcus (LaMarcus Tinker) is unclear.

"Unlike other 'Glee' relationships, they may stay together all the way to the end of the year," Riley told THR recently. "I think what you're going to see is what a positive relationship looks like with those two."
