In its fourteenth year, the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays has awarded grants to three new plays.

Each prize consists of a $10,000 grant to the playwright and a separate award to the presenting theatre. The State Theater Company in Austin, TX will receive $30,000 to help produce John Walsh's "The Dinosaur Within;" Denver Center Theatre Company will receive $43,000 for Michael Genet's "Pork Pie," and Naked Eye Theatre in Chicago, IL garnered $20,000 for Jamie Pachino's "Waving Goodbye."

Over its tenure, the Fund has awarded grants totaling nearly $3.8 million to 114 playwrights and 55 not-for-profit theatres, making it possible for them to mount premieres of 80 new plays. Past recipients include Pulitzer Prize winners Tony Kushner, Robert Schenkkan and Wendy Wasserstein.
