cording to Ramin Niami--a veteran of the low-budget world and organizer of a new workshop at New York Performance Works on Chambers St. in lower Manhattan--the worst problem about tight budgets and impossible deadlines in indie features is the way actors are rushed into scenes without rehearsal time. The cure, Niami says, has come through a workshop where actors can meet with writers and directors on an informal basis two nights every week for critical, live readings of current works-in-progress.
