Aubrey Plaza: Emails from people I have yet to respond to who are losing their patience – rightfully so? And then "The New York Times" on my iPad. Then the Drudge Report. Then YouTube for my daily morning dose of amazing/stupid videos that my friends send me.
Adweek: What do you read or watch or listen to at the breakfast table?
Plaza: Oh, how I wish to have a breakfast table! There is something soothing about the "Today" show in the mornings. I really like having it on in the background. When I lived in New York, I always had NY1 on. But those days are over.
Adweek: What occupies your mind in the car, on the subway, train, or bus?
Plaza: In the car, usually a running, terrifying list of things that I need to do.
Adweek: Are you a TV junkie, or on an airtime-restricted diet?
Plaza: I am a Netflix/DVR junkie. I don't like to watch TV without a plan. And yes, there are a lot of bad reality TV shows on my DVR—"Iron Chef," "Top Chef," and "Bad Girls Club." I am not ashamed. I like "Curb Your Enthusiasm" too.
Adweek: If you're a couch potato, what do you watch, and how: TV, laptop, or tablet?
Plaza: When I'm on the couch, I usually have the TV on and my MacBook Air nearby. And sometimes, when my ADD is really kicking in, I have my iPad too. And my iPhone. And a magazine that I haven't gotten to. And a book under the pillow to my left. Which I swear I will get to right after this one thing...
Adweek: Before bed, do you bite into a novel, graze on Twitter, or fast until morning?
Plaza: Lately, I've been reading scripts and books off my iPad before bed. I prefer reading books before I go to sleep, though sometimes the LED light keeps me up.
Adweek: Which is more nutritious: print or Web?
Plaza: Print! Print! Print! If I have the option, I always read the paper or a book or something I can touch and destroy in my own hands.
Adweek: Give us the skinny on your favorite app.
Plaza: ArtStudio! It's my favorite. It turns your iPad into a blank canvas, and you can paint and draw and create whatever you want and then instantly email it to friends or enemies.
Adweek: What's your biggest digital indulgence?
Plaza: Probably watching Netflix on my iPad, and online shopping. I try not to go crazy, but it's so easy to get lost shopping for things you don't need. And very dangerous.
Adweek: With such a bloated media universe, how do you cut out the fat?
Plaza: I carve out time for laptop use. I don't just open it without a purpose. I make specific times to respond to emails and read stuff online. I don't let myself "surf" on the Web, or I would probably drown.
