The theme for this year's Boot Camp is "Character Counts." Fifteen students between the ages of 11-15 years old will work on a character song and monologue, and will also learn a closing production number. The students will be working with Inside Broadway teaching artists and a member of Local 802, which is hosting the program at its headquarters at 322 West 48th Street in Manhattan.
"We’re thrilled to kick off our 31st season with such an exciting program and to be partnering with such a fantastic organization such as Local 802 AFM," Inside Broadway Executive Director Michael Presser said in a statement. "And through our Boot Camp summer intensive, Inside Broadway wishes to foster a nurturing environment for students so that they have a better understanding of the creative process of musical theater and themselves."
Inside Broadway was established by Presser in 1982 and now reaches more than 30,000 New York City students each year. The organization develops and produces touring Equity musical productions as well as a wide range of educational programs that allow participants to interact with professionals in the field and experience theater hands-on in the classroom.
