The Vineyard Theatre is casting for women and young women for its musical production of "The Laura Nyro Project," a new music-theatre piece based on the life's work of the singer-songwriter Laura Nyro ("Eli's Comin', " "Wedding Bell Blues," "Stoney End," "And When I Die"). Women of all ethnic backgrounds are strongly encouraged to attend. Seeking—Emmie: 30s, artist returning home to the streets of NYC, lost soul at a crossroads, passionate, vibrant seeker; Singer: 30s-50s, tall, slender, hip, and funky; Young Girl: 16-21, vulnerable girl, born and raised on the streets of NYC, but has yet to experience life fully. Suggested musical selection: jazz, rock, ballad, or pop that shows off vocal range. (For example, Rickie Lee Jones, Suzanne Vega, "My Funny Valentine"). Bring a selection of music.
