The Fighter (Bio/Drama). Based on the true story of boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward and his trainer and half-brother Dick Eklund, this explores the brothers’ early days on the rough streets of Lowell, Mass., through Dick’s battle with drugs and Mickey’s world championship bout in London. Losers Take All (Dramedy). Set in the 1980s, an indie punk-rock band attracts a raucous, loyal following that it purloins into a record deal and success, before losing it all. Starting from scratch once again, the band soon finds itself on the way back up and on the brink of committing the ultimate indie sin: selling out.
