FX is about to get even funnier. The cable network has picked up its first pilot from Louis C.K.’s new company Pig Newton just a month after the comedian penned a deal with FX Productions. No one will give up the goods on what the as-yet-untitled series will be about, but we know it will star “Hangover” actor Zach Galifianakis (who’s been getting attention for his uncomfortably awkward Funny or Die web series “Between Two Ferns,” in which he asks celebrities and famous actors strange questions).
Emmy-winning C.K. will co-write as well as executive produce alongside Galifianakis, Blair Breard (EP for “Louie”), Dave Becky—who’s executive produced for the likes of comedy superstars like Aziz Ansari, Kevin Hart, and Bo Burnham—Andrea Pett-Joseph and Bill Maher’s EP Marc Gurvitz. It’s a super team that’s likely to churn out some comedy gold.
The untitled C.K.-Galifianakis partnership is one of 12 pilots FX Productions has picked up for their new season. The list currently includes “The Comedian” starring Billy Crystal, “Weeds” writer Stephen Falk’s “You’re the Worst,” Tracy Morgan’s “Death Pact,” “How & Why,” starring John Hawkes and Michael Cera, and more.
“Louie” will return to FX for its fourth season this May.
