To celebrate Broadway’s “Peter and The Starcatcher’s” 100th performance, Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared July 11 “Peter and the Starcatcher” day.

“New York City has long been a place where children – and adults – are encouraged to have big dreams,” the mayor said in a statement. “Whether you’re from the five boroughs originally, or ventured to the city from a place as far away as Neverland, this is the place where those dreams can come true. In fact, they do come true on Broadway, where one magical show can take you on the adventure of a lifetime any night of the week.”

“Peter and the Starcatcher” is the tale of how an orphan boy, commonly known as Peter Pan, became the boy who never grew up and his adventures and the battles he fights with the brave Molly and try to prevent any trouble with the villainous Black Stache. The show opened on Broadway on April 15, 2012.

The production won five Tony Awards - Best Featured Actor In A Play, Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Costume Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play, and Best Sound Design of a Play.
