Playwright Arthur Miller received this year's Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Dramatists at the non-profit organization's 52nd annual spring luncheon tribute. Tony and Golden Globe-winner Brian Dennehy, who received both honors for his work in Miller's "Death of a Salesman," presented the award; Lily Tomlin and Robert Whitehead served as honorary chairs; New Dramatists board member Scott Mauro onceagain served as luncheon chairman.
The award is given each year to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to American theatre. Past honorees have included Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews, Glenn Close, John Kander & Fred Ebb, Neil Simon, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Gwen Verdon, and Terrence McNally.
This year's event took place on Thurs., May 17 at the Broadway Ballroom of the New York Marriott Marquis (1535 Broadway).
