Theatreworks/USA hopes to ease the shortage of Manhattan rehearsal space by opening Chelsea Studios, a 15,000 sq. ft. renovation on one and one-half floors at 151 W. 26th Street. The 12 rehearsal areas vary in size, with the largest measuring 40'x 28'.
The studios became available for rent on Sept. 2, and are equipped with new wooden floors, new windows, central air, and telephones. Most will have mirrors, portable barres and pianos. A nearby lounge will provide refreshments. The rehearsal site is convenient to Midtown and the subways, PATH, and Penn Station trains.
Seven of the studios measure between 40' x 28' and 40'x 20;' the smallest is 17' x 15'. Studio ceiling height is 11', with a lowest beam of 9'10". Two offices, each 9' x 7' are also available. All spaces rent at weekly, daily, or hourly rates.
Studio hours are from 9:30 am to 7 pm Mon.-Sat. Extended hours or days are available by special arrangement. Info: Paul Drew at (212
