The San Diego Film Festival will take place Sept. 17-21 in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. The competitive five-day event highlights more than 70 films, showcasing American and international features, documentaries, and short films. This year's films are organized into five themed programs: Independent Features, Special Presentations, San Diego Filmmakers Series, Shorts, and San Diego After Hours. More than 10 films will highlight the talents of hometown San Diego filmmakers. The festival will include Q&A sessions with filmmakers and their casts, guest appearances by nationally recognized film artists, nightly receptions with the filmmakers, an opening-night premier party, the festival's exclusive Actor's Ball and Award Ceremony, as well as a closing-night wrap party. The Old Globe in San Diego has announced three shows for the 2003 holiday season, including the sixth annual presentation of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Nov. 9-Dec. 31 in the Old Globe Theatre; Striking 12 (written and performed by rock group GrooveLily), Dec. 7-31 in the Cassius Carter Centre Stage, and Teatro Mascara Magica's La Pastorela, Dec. 12-14, 18-21, and 26-28 in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.
