"Once" and "Tribes" continued their winning streaks in New York theater award season, taking the prizes for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Play at the 57th annual Drama Desk Awards, presented on Sunday at Town Hall.

"Once," the musical based on the 2006 Oscar-winning film, has already been named Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, the Drama League, the Outer Critics Circle, and won several Obie Awards for its Off-Broadway run. The musical, now playing at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre, is the favorite to win the Tony Award next week. It also won for John Tiffany's direction, Martin Lowe's orchestrations, and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.

"Tribes," Nina Raines' play about a deaf son coping with his hearing family, took home the award for Best Foreign Play by the New York Drama Critics Circle. The play is currently playing Off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre, and is ineligible for the Broadway-only Tonys. The Drama Desks consider Broadway and Off-Broadway equally in each of its multiple categories.

"One Man, Two Guvnors," the hilarious import from the National Theatre of Great Britain, took home Drama Desks for lead and featured actor in a play (James Corden and Tom Edden) and original music in a play by Grant Olding. "Nice Work If You Can Get It" won for featured actors and actress in a musical (Michael McGrath and Judy Kaye) as well as for Joe DiPietro's book. "Follies" won for Outstanding Musical Revival and for Danny Burstein's lead performance and Gregg Barnes' costumes, while "Death of a Salesman" was honored as Outstanding Play Revival and for Mike Nichols' direction and Brian MacDevitt's lighting design.

The event was hosted by Brooke Shields and Brian d'Arcy James. A complete list of nominees and winners is below. (Winners are noted with an asterisk.)
