Open, "Aida" first nat'l tour

An open call audition will be held for the first national tour of "Aida" (rehearsals begin Feb. 13 in New York; first preview begins March 27 in Minneapolis, MN, then tours the U.S.). Hyperion Theatricals, prod'r; Robert Falls, dir.; Wayne Cilento, choreo.; Elton John, music; Tim Rice, lyrics; Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang, book; Paul Bogaev, mus'l dir.; Alan Levey and Marshall Purdy, gen'l mgrs.; Bernard Telsey Casting, Inc., casting. Auditions will be held Fri. Feb. 9 from 11AM-7PM at Bernard Telsey Casting, 145 W. 28 St. (btwn. 6 & 7 aves.), Ste. 12F, NYC. No monitor. Prepare one pop or rock song showing range. Seeking—Zoser: 40s-50s, male, to play Caucasian, Egyptian, evil father of Radames, elegant, cynical, urbane, and treacherous, strong rock baritone up to F, must be able to wail to B flat, supporting lead; Mereb: 15-19, male, to play African-American, Nubian, servant to Radames, smart-aleck sidekick like the Artful Dodger, a streetwise survivor, must be funny and charming, with a ton of personality and a heart of gold, strong rock/pop tenor up to an E (key flexible for younger singers), must have a good, natural, contemporary voice and move well, supporting lead.
