The fourth annual Silver Lake Film Festival has announced a lineup that includes more than 200 films and is highlighted by the presentation of the annual Spirit of Silver Lake Award to Oscar-nominated actor John C. Reilly.
The festival, which runs from Sept. 10-18, will feature filmmaker appearances, issue-based symposia, a slew of galas and afterparties and the annual Fringe Fest, a parallel program of avant-garde cinema and theater.
"This year's schedule is the most comprehensive and compelling one ever," festival founder and director Greg Ptacek said. "We have expanded the parameters of the festival to embrace the best independent films from America and beyond while continuing our commitment to showcasing the work of local and emerging filmmakers."
The five featured programs throughout the course of the festival will include a yet-to-be-announced opening-night gala, a Korean cinema program featuring the U.S. premiere of "Spring, Summer, Fall & Spring," a centerpiece gala at which three of Reilly's films will be screened, a program of films that demonstrate the struggles of rock musicians and a closing-night ceremony that will feature a tribute to silent film star Baby Peggy.
