Ken Davenport, producer
Ken Davenport was recently hailed as the "P.T. Barnum of Off-Broadway" by the New York Times for his unique 21st-century marketing strategies. Ken was named one of Crain's "Forty Under 40" in 2008. His Broadway and Off-Broadway production slate includes "Speed-the-Plow," "Will Ferrell's You're Welcome America," "Blithe Spirit," "Altar Boyz," "The Awesome 80s Prom" and "My First Time."
Ken's current projects include general managing "Avenue Q" Off-Broadway; producing "Oleanna," David Mamet's Broadway revival; and adapting the novel and film "Somewhere in Time" into a Broadway musical. Ken is the creator of the social networking site for the Broadway community Broadwayspace.com as well as TheProducersPerspective.com, a popular blog on which he gives his opinion on everything relating to Broadway and beyond.
A Sturbridge, Massachusetts native, Ken was a child theater actor who moved behind the scenes as a Broadway production assistant while he attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. After graduating from Tisch with honors, Ken held management roles on shows such as Broadway's "My Fair Lady" with Richard Chamberlain; "Grease" with Rosie O'Donnell; "Damn Yankees"; "On the Waterfront"; Tony Award-winning Broadway productions of "Show Boat," "Candide," "Ragtime," "Parade," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," and "Gypsy" starring Bernadette Peters; "Buskers"; as well as the national tours of "Jekyll & Hyde," "Chicago," "A Grand Night for Singing," and "Cinderella," starring Eartha Kitt, Deborah Gibson and Jamie Lynn Sigler.
