A new grant has pumped $25,000 into the Stage Directors and Choreographers Workshop Foundation to help fund artist stipends and educational programs.
The SDCF, which announced Wednesday it received the cash, was one of 886 nonprofit organizations awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
"These NEA-supported projects will not only have a positive impact on local economies, but will also provide opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the arts, help our communities to become more vibrant, and support our nation's artists as they contribute to our cultural landscape," NEA Acting Chairman Shigekawa said in a statement.
Pasadena Playhouse Artistic Director Sheldon Epps, who serves as chairman of the SDC Foundation Committee, added, "SDCF is uniquely positioned to provide access and support to directors and choreographers. That the NEA recognizes this is very meaningful and strengthens our capacity to make a difference in the lives of these central artists.”
