Stagehands Extend Traveling Contract

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees announced today that it has reached a new three-year "pink contract" with the Broadway League covering stagehands traveling with live attractions. The new deal has already been ratified by the IATSE general executive board and went into effect Jan. 1. According to the union, the new contract includes "meaningful economic improvements" in wages, conditions, and benefits. A union representative declined to discuss details of the increases.

"Protecting the health plans for members was a major priority in these negotiations," IATSE president Matthew Loeb said in a statement. "We achieved that goal, which is a cornerstone in providing security to those who travel under the road agreement."

The new contract expires Dec. 31, 2012.
