Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced July application deadlines for the New Generations Program, which encourages mentorship of international theatre practitioners in the United States.
Interested theatres must submit an intent-to-apply card by July 12, and a preliminary proposal by July 23.
The New Generations Program has two objectives, (1) Future Leaders, divided into mentorships and international fellowships; and (2) Future Audiences:Future Leaders involves accomplished theatre professionals who share their expertise and vision by mentoring future leaders in the theatre field, both within the United States and abroad.
Through the mentorships, early-career theatre professionals in any discipline are given two-year paid ($32,500/year) mentorship positions at a theatre and are mentored by an established professional in their field. In addition, grants of $15,000 are available to repay a mentee's student loans.
The international fellowships consist of grants of $15,000 awarded to support six-month international fellowships, which can take place over two years. Host theatres will be provided with $5,000 to offset the costs associated with the residency, and additional money will be made available to the host theatre to cover visa-processing fees.
Through Future Audiences, theatres expand and strengthen relationships with young, culturally specific, disabled and/or under-served audiences through proven innovative and unique audience cultivation efforts.
The New Generations Program is primarily designed to serve producing theatre organizations and not other organizations whose primary mission is audience development, advocacy, or other service-related goals. However, in the Future Leaders objective, the panel will consider applications from non-producing organizations who are actively engaged in the development of new work and new artists.
The New Generations Program was designed by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and TCG.
Guidelines, proposal forms, and intent-to-apply cards for New Generations are available on the TCG website at www.tcg.org.
