The Telluride Film Festival has announced a call for submissions to the upcoming 33rd annual event, which is open to both professional and nonprofessional filmmakers.
Applications are available in all aesthetic disciplines, including documentary, narrative, animation, and experimental genres. Features and shorts of all styles and lengths are eligible provided they are new works and will remain unseen by the public until the festival, which will run on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1 to 4.
The festival, held in the tiny mountain Colorado town, was the first to screen such films as My Dinner with Andre and The Crying Game.
Selected short films will play either with a feature or as part of three specially selected programs, called "Student Prints," "Great Expectations," or "Calling Cards," which features works by emerging artists.
Entries are allowed either an original production format of film, video or digital; submitted preview copies must be on 1/2-inch video or DVD.
Submissions will be accepted from May 1 to July 15. For complete info and an entry application, visit
