Florida Studio Theatre, Richard Hopkins, artistic dir., will be holding Equity auditions for "The Chosen," adapted by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok from the novel by Chaim Potok. The play is the tale of two best friends growing up in a Brooklyn neighboorhood in the 1940s. Although they only live blocks apart, they inhabit two vastly different worlds. Jewish orthodoxy clashes with Hasidism as the boys pass from childhood to adulthood. A story of friendship, faith, and father/son relationships. Rehearsals begin March 27; runs April 19-June 2. Auditions will be held at Eighth Ave. Studios, 939 Eighth Ave. (btwn. 55 & 56 sts.), 3rd fl., NYC. Bring updated pix & resumes and prepare your best one-minute dramatic monologue. Florida Studio is an EOE. All qualified actors are encouraged to attend. FST is a professional Equity regional theatre in the Gulf Coast city of Sarasota. FST salaries are comparable to LORT D. EQ. SPT CONTRACT.

Seeking—Older Reuven Malter: Jewish, approximately 35, functions as the narrator of the story; Younger Reuven Malter: Jewish, seeking an actor in his mid- to late 20s who can play 16-21 years old; David Malter: Reuven's father, Jewish, 50s; Danny Saunders: Hasid, mid- to late 20s who can play 16-21; Reb Saunders: Danny's father, Hasidic rabbi, 50s-60s.
