Tobin Babst Joins Kaplan/Perrone
Babst is the first partner added to the management and production company founded more than a decade ago by Aaron Kaplan and Sean Perrone, according to Deadline.
The departure was on friendly terms as UTA managing director David Kramer wished him well. “We’re excited for him, and look forward to working with Tobin in his role as a manager,” he said in a statement to the site.
Babst said he’s anticipating “collaborating” with his former colleagues in his new position. As a motion picture literary agent, Babst’s clients included several screenwriters, among them Evan Daugherty, who wrote “Snow White and The Huntsman.”
Kaplan and Perrone said they were “excited to partner with such a skilled advocate of writers and directors.”
The three reportedly met during a stint in the UTA mailroom, and later were assistants together in the motion picture literary department before Babst was promoted and Kaplan and Perrone struck out on their own.
