CBS' untitled comedy project from Ben Falcone and Larry Dorf will be cast by Dava Waite Peaslee. The pilot, from Warner Bros. Television, stars Falcone as a real estate investor who loses everything in a deal gone bad and is forced to move back in with his family. Rachael Harris has already been cast in the role of Falcone's wife. Melissa McCarthy, Falcone's real-life spouse, is serving as one of the show's executive producers. Plans are to start shooting in mid March.
Aside from her gigs on Showtime's "Weeds" and Fox's "Raising Hope," Peaslee is also casting the NBC comedy pilot "Friday Night Dinner."
"Let It Go," a Fox comedy pilot from Sony Pictures Television, will be cast by Collin Greenstein and Brett Daniel. Plot details are still scarce on this one, which is only described as a single-camera comedy about a married couple and their friends as they struggle to navigate and manipulate societal customs. Zachary Levi, star of the recently concluded NBC drama "Chuck," has signed on to star. No start date is set.
In addition to "Let It Go," Greenstein/Daniel are casting two other pilots this spring: Fox's "Ben Fox Is My Manny" and "Paging Dr. Freed" for USA Network. They also cast the TV Land series "Hot in Cleveland" and its upcoming spin-off starring Cedric the Entertainer, "Have Faith."
Finally, "Mistresses," a project that was in contention for a pilot order but wound up getting a straight-to-series order for summer 2013 instead, will be cast by Mary Jo Slater and Steve Brooksbank. The drama, which hails from ABC Studios, is based on the BBC1 series about four, well, mistresses whose various romantic entanglements lead to all sorts of problems. The series has no start date yet. Slater/Brooksbank recently cast the first season of TNT drama "Perception," set to premiere this summer.
