In Broadway Bares XXII: Happy Endings, which benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, more than 200 male and female Broadway dancers in various states of undress (and a lot of glitter) will perform Burlesque numbers based on favorite fairy tales. “These storybook happy endings would make seven dwarfs whistle before and after they work,” press materials say.
Created by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (“Catch Me If You Can,” “Legally Blonde”), who serves as executive producer, and led by Producing Director Michael Graziano, Broadway Bares is directed this year by Lee Wilkins (“Elf,” “Spamalot”).
In its 21 editions so far, Broadway Bares has raised more than $8.6 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. Since 1988, BC/EFA has raised more than $195 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States. Last year’s performances alone raised over $1 million.
Broadway Bares XXII: Happy Endings will be performed for two performances only, 9:30 p.m. and midnight on Sunday, June 17 at Roseland Ballroom, 239 West 52nd St., New York City. Prices range from $60-$750, with a special “Stripper Spectacular” package, including a backstage tour, for $2,500.
