  • Share:

As part of its Writers Guild 2.0 organizing effort, the WGA East has signed 11 new companies that create content for digital media. The writers at these companies will become WGAE members.

Inroads into digital media are a priority for the guild, and its initiative includes seminars, a job training program and an organizational push.

The new signatories include Dinosaur Diorama TV ("The Burg"); "Concierge: The Series"; Kapri Prods. ("Life After Lisa"); New Jill Prods. ("Jack & Jill"); Heroic Pictures ("Issues the Series"); Tailslating ("The Haley Project"); CJP Communications ("The Temp Life" ); "Allevon"; "The Louise Log"; an untitled project from writer Choike Nassor ("Titsburg"); and Hedge Fund Prods. ("Hedge Fund").

Many of these writers and companies will participate in an event Wednesday night, "From Words to Code: Surviving as a Writer in the Digital World," sponsored by the WGAE and the Paley Center for Media.

"Signing on with the WGAE is a very important step for creators and the industry to gain the respect we deserve," said Dinosaur Diorama TV creator Thom Woodley. "It recognizes that web video is becoming a force to be reckoned with in entertainment, and it helps to validate the medium."

"We welcome these signatories and their writers into the Writers Guild," said Lowell Peterson, executive director of the WGAE. "They are on the cutting edge of digital media production and distribution. We are pleased these companies recognize the value of a Writers Guild contract."
