Amazon Prime’s “A League of Their Own” debuts this month. The new series based on the beloved film of the same name tells the story of the formation of a professional women’s baseball team in the 1940s. While “A League of Their Own” isn’t currently casting, we decided to celebrate the show’s release by rounding up some similar projects. If you’re hoping to join a project like “A League of Their Own,” check out these sports-related and female-led gigs.

“Eephus”

This project is about a pair of recreational baseball teams playing one final time on their local field before it is paved over. The production seeks a Black male talent, aged 60–80, to play the lead role of Louis, and white female talent, aged 40–60, to play the lead of Connie. Rehearses Aug.–Sept. and shoots Oct. in Douglas, Massachusetts. Pays a minimum of $206 per day.

“Phoenix Reborn”

Billed as a “‘Field of Dreams’ for a new generation,” this feature tells the story of an in-demand baseball player who, after injury, needs to recover against the odds. Production is casting white male talent, aged 16–24, to play the lead role of William (must have baseball skills), and white female talent, aged 16–24, to play the lead role of Katherine. The project is also seeking talent for numerous supporting characters, as well as day players.

“Bullpen”

A YouTube series of comedy shorts about four baseball pitchers and their coach needs talent. The project is looking for male talent, aged 24–34, to play the lead role of Ace; male talent, aged 25–32, to play the supporting role of Sugar; male talent, aged 30–38, to play the supporting role of Lefty; male talent, aged 18–25, to play the supporting role of Rook; male talent, aged 40–60, to play the supporting role of Coach; and male day player talent, aged 25–40, to play the role of Cujo. Shoots Aug.–Sept. in Alexandra, Virginia. Pays $50–$25- per day.

“The Audition”

Casting is underway for the short film titled “The Audition.” Shoots Oct. 6–8 in Los Angeles. Pay is $300 for 3 days of work plus meals.
